Dance Theater of Harlem
The Dance Theater of Harlem is a breathtaking, mesmerizing, captivating, and classic ballet company with a touch of modern sophistication. With its triumphant return to New York City, the Dance Theater of Harlem left the audience in awe with their debut at the Lincoln Center. The technique possessed by this company was surpassed by the brilliance of their delivery and storytelling. Co-founded by Arthur Mitchell and Virginia Johnson the Dance Theater of Harlem pay homage to the rich and diverse culture of African Americans through classical ballets with contemporary themes. The standout piece of the opening night program was Act III Pas de Deux with Michaela DePrince and Samuel Wilson. The talent and skill that Michaela possesses was both impeccable and incomparable. Bill T. Jones Arnie Zane Dance Company
Diverse, poignant, powerful, and classic are just a few words that describe the brilliance of Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane dance company. Accompanied by live music this company offered a masterful performance of technically impeccable dancers and choreography that was evident with every movement. The Orion String Quartet comprised of two violinist, a violist and a cellist created an intense and intriguing atmosphere that allowed the audience to remain enthralled and invested in the movement and music. This was without a doubt one of the most captivating and entertaining pieces of art that I have ever witnessed. Here are some photos from my trip to the Joyce Theater.

Dance Spotlight: Ailey II
Ailey II is an exceptional dance company that showcases young and emerging talent. This company was founded in 1977 and what makes it so special is that it embodies the vision and passion of Alvin Ailey. These young dancers are electrifying, technically flawless, passionate, and exceptionally talented. Here are some photos from my trip to see Ailey II.
